Veterinary Services offers a wide range of veterinary services for pets in the following areas:
Wellness Care and Immunization
At Veterinary Services, we strive to prevent illness whenever possible. Our wellness programs include: comprehensive physical exam; internal and external parasite testing; heartworm and flea control; vaccination program; and specialized blood tests for all life stages.
Our in-house laboratory equipment allows our veterinarians to learn information regarding your pet’s health quickly for a timely diagnosis. Diseases of the kidneys, liver, pancreas, as well as anemias, platelet counts and clotting times can all be tested for right here at our clinic. Further in-house testing includes heartworm disease, Giardia, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplamosis, Parvovirus, Fecal parasite exams, Feline leukemia and FIV. Commercial veterinary laboratories are utilized for specialized diagnostics such as histopathology and consultations.
Surgery and Anesthesia
At Veterinary Services, we know that having a pet undergo a surgical procedure can be overwhelming. That is why we offer patient tailored anesthesia, pre-anesthetic blood screenings, anesthetic monitoring, and post-operative pain management. Your pet will be examined during check in to ensure that he or she is in top shape for surgery that day. We encourage owners to ask questions and concerns with our technicians and doctors. During surgery, your pet’s heart rate, oxygen saturation, and respirations will be carefully monitored. Our technicians will stay with your pet until they are fully awake from surgery and will always call to let you know your pet is recovering comfortably. Our clinic offers a wide variety of soft tissue surgeries from spaying and neutering to exploratory abdominal surgeries.
Our digital radiology equipment takes quality X-rays to help our veterinarians evaluate musculo-skeletal, cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, reproductive and urinary systems. This quick and invaluable service can be done while you wait. Our veterinarians will review the digital x-rays with you so that you can better understand your pet’s specific problem. Radiographs can be sent to board certified radiologist through email if needed.
This non-invasive technology uses sound waves to examine internal organs allowing the veterinarians to better determine the cause of a pet’s illness. As with any new technology, practice and continual education are key to success. Although our veterinarians are capable of evaluating the basic organ systems, any cardiac or extensive abdominal ultrasounds will be referred to specialists in the surrounding area.
Veterinary Services is proud to offer PennHIP services. PennHIP is a not-for-profit program owned and operated by Antech Laboratory. This radiographic technique incorporates a new objective method for evaluating hip dysphasia in our canine patients. If you own a dog that you are considering breeding or just want to be better informed about your pet’s hip health, please consider having PennHIP radiographs taken on your pet.
Regular dental cleanings are important in maintaining not only your pet’s teeth but his or her overall health as well. Our Midmark VetPro 5000 dental unit includes an ultrasonic scaler, polisher, and drill. Scaling your pet’s teeth allows plaque buildup to be removed both above and below the gum line. Polishing is important as it creates a smooth tooth surface that is more resistant to future plaque buildup.
Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. Veterinary Services carries HomeAgain microchips, the country’s most widely used microchip. Registration for your pet’s microchip is life-long and the best part is that all the paperwork is taken care of by our staff -ensuring your pet’s proper and prompt enrollment.
We understand that our patients feel pain and discomfort under the same circumstances as people do. It is our belief that alleviating pain in animals is vital to excellent patient care. All surgical estimates include pain medications because we feel your pet’s comfort should not be a matter of expense. Patients are carefully evaluated post operatively to ensure that a pain management program is adapted to his or her specific needs.
Some pets require special prescription food and all pets benefit from a balanced diet. Our trained and knowledgeable staff is available to help you choose the right diet for your pet to keep him or her happy, healthy and active. Our clinic currently carries the full line of Hill’s prescription diets and partial lines of Iam’s veterinary formula, and Royal Canin Veterinary Diets. Veterinary Services is also a supplier of Nature’s Variety, an organic food company specializing in holistic and raw pet foods.
